Diesel - “Looking For Love” Video

DIESEL - A SHORT HISTORY

He burst out of Perth in 1987 with the band Johnny Diesel and the Injectors. Their self-titled debut album was released in March 1989 and spawned the hits Don't Need Love, Soul Revival, Cry in Shame and Looking For Love. After a mini-album, Live In London, Johnny pulled the pin on the Injectors, resurfacing as Diesel with the single Love Junk in July 1991.

The album Hepfidelity followed at the beginning of 1992 containing the singles Come To Me, Tip Of My Tongue, Man Alive and One More Time. The Lobbyist, containing a mix of new songs, re-workings of old songs and a couple of covers, was released in August 1993 and hit #1 on the Australian Charts. 1994's Solid State Rhyme (featuring All Come Together, 15 Feet Of Snow and Get It On) was another multi-platinum smash.

Diesel and his family relocated to New York in 1996 and along with a new home and a new label (Mammoth) came a new name, his given name of Mark Lizotte. In 1999 his album Soul Lost Companion was released containing the hit singles Dig and Satellite.

Fast forward to 2001 and after 5 years in New York Mark decided to return to Australia and take more control of his destiny. With that in mind, he decided to revert back to the name Diesel, finance his own album and release it independently. This resulted in the critically acclaimed Hear album which was released in October 2002 with the first single Getta Kick.

2004 unveiled two debut releases for Diesel – a live solo acoustic album Singled Out (Liberation Music’s Blue Acoustic Series) recorded whilst touring Australia ‘03/’04 - and a DVD The First Fifteen – ’89-‘04 (EMI) a retrospective spanning his fifteen year career recorded at Sydney’s Metro Theatre. Singled Out spawned a further ARIA nomination and the DVD debuted in the top 40 in it’s initial week.

NO – Diesel never left the live or recording playground! Enter his latest single Crazy Town. It’s the first taste of Diesel’s new album Coathanger Antennae, with the follow up single, Saviour, on sale in May.

After the success of his ARIA Award nominated acoustic album Singled Out (2004), Diesel went back in the studio with his band — bassist Richie Vez and drummer Lee Moloney — to cut his most varied collection of songs in ten years.

Singled Out put Diesel back on the airwaves and sparked massive demand for his acoustic shows and after six years living in NY, Australian audiences were reminded just how gifted a guitarist and singer Diesel really is.
